I think that my beer of choice is no longer imported. Probably because of the thing where you can scratch to get a naked lady. I did have another one, as part of another dessert lunch. And I managed to convince the co-luncher to also go straight to dessert. But they had tea as the drink. read more »

I would treat it as a lesson in life if I walked in to shit because I wasn't paying attention.
Or - I would have a laugh. Like I did a couple of weeks ago when telling my co-workers that I had punched myself in the eye the night before. It involved brushing long, damp hair in an overly aggressive way. If a knot suddenly gives - you can punch yourself pretty hard.
Also - Day.... five - no casualties. I've been nuts at work, but that really is normal. Kind of a peak nuts period, but people seem cool with that because I know what I'm doing and if I decided I need to email the top sales dude about the unicorned chick with tacks in her eyes, I actually start my emails with "Please bear with me - I need to get this out of my system.". I actually think I'm forming a bond with sales dude, because he calls me after the email (emailS now) and lets me vent, then speaks to me with calming words. read more »
I think it's because I have a room (with a door I can close) for a study, and have unpacked my books. read more »
This story, about a toddler being killed by a delivery truck is sad news indeed. And I'm sure all involved are traumatised and so forth.
But given that it was a truck delivering chocolates, and it's Easter... I'd like to point out that said toddler was probably run over by the Easter Bunny.
I watched some of A Current Affair (ACA) tonight. There was a story about a pub owner who has shut up his business in a storm of protest over how unfair property taxes have forced him to the wall.
I am not sharing my opinion about the story, or property taxes in general, because I can't be arsed. What did get me riled up was the end bit where drinkers were given a few seconds of air time each, and the thread ACA chose to edit together and air was about Labor. The punters seemed to be saying that they were traditional labor-voting types, but that may change because they thought Labor was for the Workers - and look at the poor publican, what's Labor doing for him?!
I think it's a sad state of affairs when 'Labor people' can't spot a worker anymore. See, the publican pays his staff a wage and keeps the profits made with their sweat and blood. Thus - he is an (evil) Capitalist.
I've just scanned a story which is only interesting if you like that kind of thing... but one part I found funny.
Researchers from John Hopkins University have 'easily' cracked a car alarm system that works by including an RFID code in car keys. So, your car key sends out a little ID signal which your car confirms when you try to start it. Along in the research they discuss ways to fix this, and one option is "Faraday shielding offers a short-term, partial remedy.". What this means in practical terms is that you can keep your key wrapped in tin-foil while you're not using it.
Just like a tin-foil hat.
