My brain just had a minor meltdown while scanning Google News. I'm obviously in an odd mood to be doing that.

I saw a story starting with the phrase:
By Sabra Lane for PM Mr Turnbull says the Opposition supports private health (blahtc)

Mr Turnbull is PM now - WTF?!? Discard that idea. Sabra Lane for PM. Who the hell is Sabra Lane, and why are they running for PM? Why would the ABC (government media) let anybody use that in their name? Discard. Go in mental circles, and even search Google for Sabra Lane.

After a while staring at unhelpful results, I realise that PM is one of ABC Radio's shows.

I saw on the news last night a snippet from a Whitehouse press briefing. And from the transcript there of Scott McClellan you can see the first question and answer:

Q He (Osama bin Laden) seemed to be offering a conditional truce under fair conditions, and seemed to be tying it to a U.S. pullout from Iraq.

MR. McCLELLAN: And as I indicated, clearly, the al Qaeda leaders and the terrorists are on the run. They're under a lot of pressure. We do not negotiate with terrorists. We put them out of business. The terrorists started this war, and the President made it clear that we will end it at a time and place of our choosing. We continue to pursue all those who are seeking to do harm to the American people, and to bring them to justice.

This answer annoys me, and it made me say (to my long suffering house mate) that it just makes the USA look like liars, or the Evil Empire bin Laden makes them out to be. But I guess it could just be spin gone mad.  read more »

The following is the result of this morning's annoyance. Some time ago I (foolishly) signed an online petition organised by the the Australian Democrats. Now they have spammed me. Somehow, in my mind, this is confirmation of what I thought since they helped the GST through... that they no longer 'Keep the Bastards Honest' because they have stepped down from the heights to join the game down in the muck.
