Sick days are good - but don't seem so awesome when they turn out to be a sick long weekend.
Keep forgetting to mention - I don't get a train in to the CBD often any more, but when I do I am appalled that all the graffiti near East Richmond has been greyed over. I loved that stretch.
There has been an awesome breakthrough in my life - I had chicken kiev last week! In hindsight, it was absolutely retarded of me not to nut out that cheese and whey that stopped me eating them... that is a processed food thing that doesn't apply to places like poulterers. read more »
Last 'hospital Friday', I walked away with one of the best bruises ever. Took 2 weeks to disappear. No such bruise this time. But I did get the nurse that reliably leaves me with a beeping widgamy after an air bubble in my drip.
Sometimes lately, I am making a point of going through the Vic Market on my way to get CDs. A friend and I used to 'race' each other through the crowds. Now I have decided that the Vic Market Challenge is a good way to get a feel for how unco I am. Many skills are tested while navigating a crowded shed.
I have had some practical demonstration about the wonder of ecosystems. Now that my cat has fixed the mouse (rodent) problem, we have a roach problem. It's a real lesson in life when you realise that the mice were probably keeping the roaches in line.
Work has been real busy still. But the tension is a little better this last week. Possibly because it reached a point where I had a chat with someone about how bad it was getting. I am happy that it's eased off, but a little part of me wonders about the conversations that might have happened to get it eased.
Also at work - I seem to have earned my first nickname. From a guy who is nice enough to get away with it.
Now that Slappa have an Australian distributor... I've been on a minor spree. Might get a few more things soon, as well.
Not having to go to work is awesome. But it's better when you still have money, so the plan is to get another job.
I did explain to CD store guy that, if I get another job at the last rate, I would be happy to work three or four days a week. Then I bought a stack of CDs and a Skinny Puppy t-shirt.
Then I went and bought some books. And some expensive chocolate. read more »
I just made it through "OMG... Cancer!" again.
As a chick, you get forwarded all these crappy "OMG - BREAST CANCER!" emails, and you get real information from reliable sources, too. If you just have the underarm symptom, you can convince yourself it's a rash. Then you get symptom number two, and, if you are me, you get to a doctor and ask them to tell you some things. read more »
MDD - Multiple Destination Disorder. I was on a train today which suffered this condition. So... as we approached South Yarra, it announced that we were approaching Windsor. Then South Yarra. Prahran was nowhere. Richmond was 2 stations, and so on.
I went to the dentist today, and I need to break in a new tooth, I think, similar to new shoes. She's partially corrected my bite, so it just feels wrong. read more »
In a similar vein to home veterinary successes, I have ventured in to home dentistry. I have to say that this is nowhere near as good as what a dentist does though.
I am halfway through a crown, with a temporary tooth. Temporary tooth popped off late on a Friday (they know when it's a weekend, I swear). Not wanting to leave it out (maybe putting it under my pillow) or swallow it in my sleep... I invested in denture fixative cream.
Happily, dentist has confirmed by phone that this will see me through until Monday - if I'm real careful. Unhappily... this is the kind of thing that makes one crack the sads.
I have located a very nice chicken souvalaki local to me. I was surprised... not a normal souva, but very good.
I got my redundancy money yesterday. It makes up for my splurge after finishing up, plus some extra. I tried to get a sales guy to talk me into a 'time capsule', and he sucked. He sucked bad, so I just got some games which I'll probably play twice.
I am gettin' real good at hospital Fridays. Today I watched blood draw back into a giant plunger. read more »
