My Adventures In The Workplace

PINK!!

I have often be heard to say at work "Pink is the Devil's colour". Because it is, and because I have this colour coding thing going on. I work with real big lists of invoices, so green for good, blue is a different good, then yellow progresses to pink for bad nastiness. I hate pink, so it motivates me to eliminate all pink.  read more »

Where's My Dad?

Okay... Catastrophe Client. I had an aneurysm getting shit packaged up today. I did a damn good job, and explained my artful floristry to the exec. Happy as an exec can be in the circumstances. Possibly because I do a good job, and I think that was more apparent given that previous briefs must have been near zero. I warned him that I stick to honest assessments, so if I think something is wrong... I have no trouble with the client knowing, because I intend to fix it.  read more »

Like Floristry

My revelation for the day - putting together a brief for a solicitor, or an executive, is as close as I will ever get to flower arranging.

You've got a big list of invoices. You need to get summaries together so that a highly paid person can understand the main point in a few seconds.

But then there isn't enough stuff to look impressive being wheeled out. So you need a certain bulk.

The Up Side Is For The Others

I wasted some of my very few words today, to say to the guys that - if they're lucky, I'll be quiet tomorrow as well. I have very nearly no voice, and I figure that if I shut up now... that's sensible. Other than mild phlegm, that is my only symptom. Except for the morning cough, which got me up at four, but stopped by five.  read more »

I'm Not A Touchy, Huggy Person

Whatsisname left today - and I really will miss him. So much so that I exchanged email addresses, which is uncommon for me.

When the last guy left, he caught me off guard on the way out, and a hug was going on before I really worked it out. It's a sign that I really liked him, because I didn't thump him for entering my personal zone. But I did say that "I'm not a touchy, huggy person.", and he had a good, quick come back about being lucky.  read more »

Have I Bagged AMP Lately?

Not recently enough!

I have lodged a formal complaint with AMP, and the guy today seemed to be saying that they really never got my form, he really is certain, but there is no way he can pull out what I sent.  read more »
