Many years ago (during the 'Westbury Period'), I spent some time obsessively playing Apeiron on the old Mac LC. And now... it's out for Mac OS X! Now I am becoming frustrated with the high score situation. When I started playing I realised there's an internet high score thing going on - and early on I had a good moment when I got world sixth. But then all these other people started scoring well and my sixth wasn't sixth any more... today my sixth was like twenty-something, and I feel that in order to retain some self respect I at least have to be good enough to see me in the top twenty-two (which is what you see in the game itself). So after this evening I'm eighteen. I must do much better, though.

One of the best things about Apeiron are the sound effects. I guess you'd have to hear them to really understand, but there are these excellent belching mushrooms in it.

In other news... tomorrow I should get a visit from a lady filling in for my Case Manager. Because I collected debts for so long, I must be holding cheques in my hand to believe in them. If all goes according to plan, tomorrow I will have a cheque for just under $1k. Since my Case Manager had kept saying she could try to help with my debt if it wasn't dental - I asked for my back rent to be cleared. I thought I'd get maybe part of it, but someone approved the lot. Yaaay!

Also, I'm thinking I may see a doctor about my foot. I mentioned a while back I had this odd blotch that suddenly came over all lumpy. It settled down, but yesterday it came out all lumpy again. I think I'll also try a new doctor, because my last visit to my current GP involved intense stabbing pain when I know from experience there should have been mild discomfort.

Oh - that's what else. A while ago my hard drive failed, which was a whole lot of fun. New hard drive now, finished arseing around with getting all the software going and old data moved over.
