It's okay - that was in character.

I think that Saturday's game could be summed up as "It's okay! It's okay, we're all in character, and everything is o-kay!!" There was tension galore.

I think I forgot to mention here that my other character died. And that's okay. It seemed to stress the other players more than it did me... it's a bummer and all, but the thing is that it's a game and you just roll up a new player. I'm a bit annoyed that I did something half-arsed and was mauled to death by a large dog... but that's okay.

So I started a new character on Saturday. Tension galore. Bad-scary tension.
In-character tension. So there was a kind of time out, where there was some out-of-character 'what the hell is going on here?' tension. And it seemed to get better after that, so hopefully next week will pick up.

As an aside... When I was a little tacker and I started playing, my dad became very upset that I was involved with role playing games. He warned me about the evils of role play on young minds. And he started out a bit vague so I thought it was some kind of 'You'll turn into a Satan-Worshiping drug abuser' speech. Which would be waaay out of character from either of my parents. (My parents are quite... liberal minded. Like I remember the gay babysitter. And I'm sure the gay babysitter recalls my six year old self asking all about gay life. But that's an aside to this aside.) So. My dad gets all concerned, and I eventually work out (he was drunk, and it took a while) that he was concerned in the sense that the game may not be properly moderated and there would be all kinds of psycho-social consequences if people stopped differentiating between In and Out of character. If that makes sense.

And that did make sense at the time. Now it makes sense beyond a purely intellectual understanding. Not that it did get ugly, much. We seemed to be on the road to ugly, though.

The stupid spamverts for Windows machines really irritate me some days. I very much doubt I have an urgent need to update my software when the ad looks like a crappy MS dialog box.
